How is the archiving service priced?

The cost is based upon a per user account fee covering a predetermined number of years of storage.




What are the advantages of Hosted Archiving?

Advantages of hosted solutions include: lower initial investment; management by IT professionals freeing up your own staff; secure, off-site storage; the ability to cancel the service at any time; and 24/7 access via a web browser. Additionally, hosted solutions remove any question of data tampering by your IT staff.

How much data can I store?

During the year of archiving you are provided unlimited email storage subject to certain restrictions to avoid abuse.



What mail systems are supported?

Gaggle already supports the following email systems with more being added each month. If you have a specific system that needs archiving please contact us. MS Exchange, GroupWise, Google Apps, Lotus Notes, FirstClass, NetMail, PostFix, SendMail, qMail, @mail, AppleMail server, and iMail.

How long does the archive process take?

The time required to complete the archive process depends upon your bandwidth and server capability. Generally it is very fast and takes less than one hour during off-peak periods. As an example, a Groupwise customer with 2,500 users on an older server is archived each night in less than 90 minutes.

Can I choose when the archiving takes place?

Yes, you can schedule the archiving to happen at a particular time each night or even multiple times per day.



Can I download the data from the Archives at the end of the contract period?

Yes, you can download the contents of each users’ folders at any time. In addition, for a small fee Gaggle technicians will burn your email data to a DVD and ship it to your office.

How quickly can I get setup?

If you have administrative access to your mail server and firewall, the setup can be completed in less than one hour.



What is the setup process?

The process is slightly different for each email system, but generally it involves changing a few preferences in your mail server configuration and opening access in your firewall to Gaggle’s IP block. Please refer to the Technical Speficications for your specific mail server.

How big is Gaggle’s largest archiving customer?

Gaggle’s largest archiving customer as of February 2008 is a school district with over 5,000 user accounts.
